I have a confession. I don’t know what I’m doing.
I have been searching for a creative outlet (starting a cupcake business, writing numerous unpublished books, painting countless paintings, knitting scarves & blankets, experimenting with healthy recipes in the kitchen, the list goes on…) all very fun but nothing really filling that “void”. It was only when I began reading some lifestyle blogs that I had that “aha” moment.
My background is much like a patchwork quilt. There is quite the variety of things that have made me the person I am today with the interests that I have. I have lived up and down both coasts of the United States, on the Big Island of Hawaii and went to school for fashion, interior design and even business. The only consistent thing in my life (besides my friends and family) is the passion I feel for health and wellness. Fitness and nutrition has never felt boring to me and I just can’t get enough sometimes.
Connecting the drive I feel to be creative with content that interests me is what ultimately led me to entertaining the idea of a blog. The focus of the blog was the easiest decision, while how to go about creating the blog and the tech side of things was extremely daunting.
The idea of putting myself in any type of limelight was also very scary. Not many people who know me also know I did years of modeling. To me it was more of a character I took on that fed my creative side and felt more like an artistic expression than a job. Nonetheless there is a stigma with such professions and I kept it as quiet as possible for the fear of being judged or misunderstood.
With age comes experience and growing into the person you ultimately want to be. I’ve found it’s much easier to express yourself to others when you yourself understand your core values and morals. I feel like I am finally in a place where I can do just that.
I’m rambling, but I promise this all relates back to My Simply Fit and how I don’t know what I’m doing ; )
I knew NOTHING when it came to starting a blog back in April, and I still feel like I know very little. It took one afternoon for me to say WHY NOT and Google how to start a blog to begin the process of creating MSF.
The accepting community of bloggers is what has surprised me most about this experience and I can honestly say my only regret is I wish I had started sooner. I feel privileged to write about what interests me and to have it connect to anyone at all. I get inspiration daily and feel my creative juices just F L O W I N G.
I’m straight giddy when it’s time to sit down and write, and often times have to edit myself because I have so much to say! The purpose of this “revamp” post is just that, I want to reset and connect back to what the motivation of this blog was. I am learning each day, and while it is a very slow process (I am doing this every spare moment I am not working my 9-5 job) because I am teaching myself, I hope MSF is improving and becoming increasingly user-friendly.
For my first revamp I am changing up how I post each week. Instead of the once weekly post I currently do, I am setting out to post three times a week to cover my core subject areas, Body, Mind and Spirit. My philosophy and that of MSF is to be truly healthy you need to work on all three categories. With that said, I’d like to give attention to all three on this blog and touch upon each one, every week.
The weekly schedule will now look like this:
Motivation Mondays (Spirit)
Wellness Wednesdays (Mind)
Fit Fridays (Body)
Thank you all for your continued support and patience with my VERY green blog. While I admit the tech side of things is frustrating at times and I would love to know how to do everything R I G H T . T H I S . M I N U T E . I am learning to love the trial and error that goes along with it and feel proud that I am doing everything on my own (I danced around my living room when I learned how to upload a widget!).
I’m excited to set things off next week with a spooky, Halloween-inspired week!
Cheers to learning simple ways to staying fit & always saving room for champagne <3
