Wellness Wednesday: Yes, they’re REAL

There are so many smoke and mirrors these days it’s hard to keep things straight on what is authentic and what is enhanced. I am not against anyone doing something that makes them feel better or gives them more confidence but I am ALL for trying things the natural way first.

Before my wedding I was frantic about getting the healthiest hair, toned arms, white teeth and long eyelashes. Because lets face it, there is nothing more feminine and pretty than long beautiful lashes.

I never tried eyelash extensions and was never a big fan of the glue-on false eyelashes so I turned to Latisse to help the process along before my big day. I have to say it totally worked and my already pretty long eyelashes were extremely long and full, giving me the look I was going for.

The thing about Latisse though is it isn’t natural, and it worried me to continue using something so artificial. Putting it on your eyes everyday/weekly seemed intense, especially with so many unknowns.

So I started experimenting with natural forms of eyelash ‘enhancers’ and while primers and mascaras worked amazing when I had makeup on, I was looking for something that would keep them fuller even when I didn’t have makeup on.

DSC_2537.jpgI read about Castor Oil a few different places and saw that it had been used to help with hair growth. Intrigued, I did a little more digging and found the properties it was made up of and how it was used to remedy so many different things even back in ancient times.

I decided to give it a go and rub a little on my eyelash line each night before bed. Within a month (I am not kidding) my eyelashes were NOTICEABLY fuller. Castor Oil is high in Vitamin E, proteins and omega fatty acids so it does make sense that it would contribute to hair growth. While I have not tried it on my scalp for hair growth, I read many testimonials that swear by it for hair growth.

If you are looking for a natural way to boost your eyelash game I highly recommend giving it a go and let me know what you think. I know you will be happily surprised with the results!

dividerWe are off to a super fun trip back East, can’t wait to share some of the travels on Instagram, find me @mysimplyfit to come along 🙂

P.S. Don’t judge the bottle of Castor Oil I used in the photo, as you can see it is well loved and used everyday 😉

    1. You can apply with a q tip or finger tips (I do this after washing my face so my hands are clean) and there is actually no smell. Just use a little, a little goes a long way and it’s pretty thick so won’t run into your eyes <3
