Motivation Monday: Manifest Your Dream Life

It’s the start to a fresh week and if you’re interested in this kind of thing, the last week for our current moon before we get a new moon on Sunday. Sometimes I do make connections with behaviors or patterns in accordance to the cycle of the moon, and fun fact the tides are also affected by the moon (also the sun, but not as much). The moon can be a powerful thing if you want to believe in its energy. That brings me to back to what I wanted to talk about for today’s Motivation Monday. I base most of these Monday posts on the spirit side of wellness because for some it’s easy to focus on physical (mind, body) wellness and not as easy to work on the spirit portion. Balance in all areas of wellness is crucial for a healthy existence. There have been a lot of incredible things happening in my life lately that have not only brought me to a place of gratitude but have also given me the opportunity …

Motivation Monday: No Doubt

Summer is FULL of good vibes. There’s sunshine, outdoor activities, longer days, and for some, a bit of travel. While you could be nose deep in a beach worthy novel, toes in the sand, chilled glass of rose in hand (aaahh) there still could be a part of you that is just feeling…well for lack of a better word…blah. Sometimes I find myself (even in the best of circumstances) feeling a lack of motivation. If you’ve got it all together and have never felt this way, this post may not be for you. But for the rest of us, I feel like it’s important to note that we don’t need to be pulled together and have it all figured out 100% of the time. I do think there is a time and a place for knowing when to give yourself some self-care, but most of the time I think we all just need a little push and dose of motivation to get us to where we want to be. Although they may be cheesy, I …

Motivation Monday: The Importance of Independence

With a day to celebrate independence on the horizon I wanted to take a moment to reflect. While I could go on a tangent about the state of the world right now and how unity is SO important, I’m not going to. Instead I wanted to talk about something motivating to us as individuals. Something worth discussing because now more than ever, I feel like the world is becoming more unsure and even a little scary, especially with social media and how quick news seems to travel these days. I don’t remember being so uncertain about the future. This can be attributed to me being naïve in my youth or maybe even a little sheltered. Or it could be due to the times, and how we get our news now compared to 20 years ago. Regardless, I think it’s worth mentioning that we should not be afraid. That the world is a wonderful and exciting place, still filled with promise and adventure. I left home to travel to the islands of Hawaii during college and …

Motivation Monday:Always Have a Carrot

It’s easy to get wrapped up in what everyone else is doing especially in the age of scrolling through social media and the immediate reporting of what celebrities and public figures are off doing and jet setting to. You see the extravagant vacations and remote places people are traveling to but not the daily check-ins at the office, hours spent in traffic, meetings, early morning wake-up calls, and penny pinching that is going on behind the scenes. We’ve all been told it’s important to worry about ourselves and focus on what we are doing as opposed to others. While this is true, it can be difficult when it’s put in front of your face 24/7. What I find helpful when I’m having “vacation or lifestyle envy” is planning my own next adventure. Figuring out what I would like to do next and work towards that goal. This is what I call the carrot theory. Always dangling that “prize” (vacation, latest tech gadget, beauty treatment, pet, etc.) in front of you so you are working towards …

Motivation Monday: Facetime

Happy Monday everybody, I hope this post finds you fresh off a fun-filled weekend. As I mentioned before, I am starting off my summer with some travel and spending time with family, two of my favorite things! I’m making a point to try and document more of my days in Instagram stories (tougher than it seems!) and remembering to include any useful tips or tricks any of you may be interested in (let me know if there’s something you’re missing!). So I am finding my phone in my hand more and my nose in a screen. I mentioned the importance of taking a hiatus from technology every now and then and just how important it is for your health to disconnect. With all this time spent on my phone I became more aware of others, holding screens, typing on screens, looking at screens, instead of each other. This was a great reminder that I was lacking face time. I don’t mean, Facetime like the video conferencing you do on your smartphone, I’m talking about putting …

Motivation Monday: Fathers, Modern Day Heroes

This Motivation Monday is dedicated to some pretty important people that motivate us to be our best selves. It’s Monday, the start to a fresh week and one where we get to pay homage to the modern day heroes in our lives, dads. Fathers, mentors, husbands, brothers, uncles, there are many forms of what a father can mean to someone and it is something that is unique to each person. We would be in a very different place if we didn’t have these special men in our lives. It’s crucial to have a solid figure you can turn to when faced with hard decisions or a tough circumstance for guidance and perspective. Teachers, mentors, public figures, neighbors, friends, and family there are numerous variations of who can take this role on in your life. I count my blessings when I think of who this figure is in my life because luckily enough all these descriptions mentor, teacher, family, someone I look up to is all wrapped up into one person, my Dad. He has done …

Motivation Monday: Life Is A Marathon

Yesterday was the San Diego Rock-n-Roll Marathon. The route of the marathon winds around neighborhoods surrounding downtown San Diego and is a great time for the locals to come out of their homes and show their support for all the runners. It’s cool to see the perseverance of all walks of life, young and old, handicap and veteran runners all committed to the same task. As I was watching the runners pass by, trying to yell words of encouragement, I had a realization of the significance of it all. Sure running a marathon is a feat in itself, but the commitment as a whole is what’s really impressive. The act of actually running 26+ miles is incredible and something to be proud of, but so is the preparation, the hours spent before the race training and conditioning, making sacrifices and choosing to do things that may not have always been the fun or the popular choice but the necessary one to get closer to a goal. I thought about how similar this seemed to real …
