Motivation Monday: Mind Cleansing

Happy Monday everyone and happy fresh start to the week! I have to say this past weekend got me REALLY inspired and I can’t wait to continue to share all the great things with you. I love this platform for so many reasons but I’m also getting into Instagram and particularly Instagram stories because of the interaction. I love the fact that I can connect with you instantly and it brings us closer on this journey, so fun! One of the things I came across I found in a magazine I was reading, they were discussing mind cleansing. It’s something they have been implementing for quite some time in England (props to England for always being ahead of the health and wellness trend!). There are actual resort style retreats set up across the countryside of England that cater to mind cleansing and are spreading in popularity. I love to travel, and my favorite way is with my husband who is as equally down to walk the entire city we are visiting looking for local fare, …

Motivation Monday: The Power of Music

Happy Monday everyone! The start of the week is a great opportunity to set some goals and add an intention to set the tone for your week. I was feeling a little overwhelmed on Saturday morning thinking of all the errands, homework, research, laundry, etc. I was trying to accomplish before I was due to my Pilates studio lesson. I knew I would be in class for 5 hours so I was trying to make the morning as productive as possible. I noticed my anxiousness and in result tried to slow down and see what I could do to prioritize what needed to be done first. I sat down, made a list beginning with the tasks that were time sensitive. Once everything was on paper, I began to feel a little better. Next I made myself a nutritional breakfast knowing the day I had ahead and all the energy I needed to power me through the day. Lastly, I turned on our speaker in the kitchen and BLASTED my favorite playlist. Before long my list …

Fit Friday: MSF Raw Mocha Almond Squares

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you are having a great week and are headed into the weekend feeling accomplished or inspired. I have been plugging away at Pilates training and enjoying walking to classes in this summer-like weather we’ve been having. It’s been pretty warm so I haven’t been wanting to put my oven on to bake anything, but that doesn’t mean my chocolate cravings go away! I experimented with some things I had on hand and ended up with squares that were the perfect amount of chocolatey goodness and super simple to make, so I felt the need to share with you! These remind me of a chocolate brownie with a ganache-like consistency and a hint of coffee which gives that caffeine kick I am seriously addicted to. They are rich and luscious enough to feel sinful, but the ingredients are clean and raw and nothing to feel bad about. Win, win! You must try and make these to enjoy pre/post workout or to have when you need a little pick-me-up that feels decadent …

Fit Friday: Dining Out? 4 Simply Fit Rules To Stay On Track

It’s been a total whirlwind this week getting back into the swing of things after being away and catching up on Pilates training and work. I LOVE traveling and crave the inspiration and perspective it gives me but also enjoy coming back to a routine and being productive. All the eating out I was doing while traveling and celebrating with family and friends inspired me to do a little guide to eating out if you’re trying to keep things fit and trim for the upcoming bathing suit season like me. Eating out does not have to be a daunting thing and can be quite manageable if you are equipped with the right tools and information. So here it is, MSF guide to eating out. 4 Simply Fit Rules When Dining Out Plan ahead-if you know where you’re going ahead of time GREAT! This gives you some information on the menu and what is offered there. Skim the menu online or while you’re waiting to be seated so you can prepare yourself mentally and choose something …

Fit Friday: Snack Attack Remedy…MSF Granola Recipe

Happy Friday friends! I have to say I am pretty ready to say hello to the weekend. It’s been a week filled with studying, practicing Pilates and of course the usual 9-5 job. No complaints here because I am BEYOND excited about the material I am covering in my teacher training and feeling more inspired every day, just a little tired 😉 I did leave some time this week to play around in the kitchen a little and created a yummy adaptation of a granola I was gifted by the chef we hired for my birthday dinner in Santa Barbara (shout out to Mark!). While his was RIDICULOUS, I am assuming it was not completely MSF-approved, because why would it need to be? But for those of us who would like to incorporate granola into our daily routine, I wanted to lighten it up a bit and fill it with nutritious ingredients. I included things such as cinnamon, Himalayan pink salt, and power seeds because by now you know how ride or die I am …

Wellness Wednesday: Everyone Does It, So Lets Talk About It

Today’s post can be viewed as a little TMI for some, but I’ve had enough friends ask my opinion on the subject to feel it’s a topic many can relate to. What’s the healthiest, most effective form of hair removal? Am I an expert? Not really. But I do have years of experience trying different methods and feel this familiarity has me well-read on the topic enough to give an educated opinion. I will try to keep it simple, even though this can be a complex topic with many points of view. I’ve listed the top ways of hair removal below and my pros and cons for each so you can decide what’s best for you. Hair removal cream: Pros-inexpensive, can be done at home, straightforward concept, minimum pain Cons-inconsistent, can cause rashes or skin irritations (if directions are not followed carefully), a lot of keep-up, precision is difficult to achieve Tweezing: Pros-gets the entire hair follicle (if done properly) so hair grows back slower, can be precise, inexpensive, can be done at home Cons-time, …

Fit Friday: Tahini 3 Ways

As we head into the long weekend, I am prepping my fridge with grab’n’go snacks and treats to power us through some hiking and movie nights we have planned. I always like to “hide” some nutrition in my treats and snacks so I am getting in some nutrients while I indulge a little. I first came across tahini when I discovered Greek food and fell in love with the tangy flavor especially when paired with the bright flavors of parsley and veggies used in Mediterranean cooking. Little did I know the variety of foods both savory and sweet I could incorporate tahini in. Adding tahini adds depth and a subtle nutty flavor to any dish while also integrating vitamins and minerals. Tahini is a sesame seed puree and is known for being high in protein, healthy fats, and minerals, which include calcium, zinc, and iron. Below I have included some creative ways to use tahini besides the standard salad dressing or dip for falafels. Have fun upping your nutrition game this weekend and please share …
